40th birthday lunch. Great service to book, when greeted and during meal. Above and beyond with great food and reasonable priced. Family we took commented on how nice the setting was and location.
Our visit was only to the restaurant for the first time since it was refurbished and we were very pleased with the ambiance, the service by the staff, the quality and presentation of the food. Whilst we (5 of us) were all satisfied with the menu options I would have liked to see a traditional soup.
Some bits in the room might be a bit dated, but the hosts more than make up for it - very helpful, always with a smile. Breakfast is freshly cooked to order and you get to choose anything from the regular breakfast menu, plus drinks and coffees. The bar downstairs is convenient if you fancy a beer or two, yet not causing any trouble should you want to go to bed early. The beer garden must be great in summer, didn't try it in February weather. Location is close enough to the city centre, and far enough from any annoying traffic or people. Would come again.
The staff were extremely considerate towards a disabled party member. The staff were very proactive; offering assistance, providing a table with more space and so on... This was a late-notice booking, too. We had a lovely lunch in the bar, the food was delicious.
Brilliant hotel. Staff are superb and are extremely helpful. You won't be disappointed staying overnight or longer. Great place to pop in for lunch and dinner too. Highly recommended.
We had a meal in the bar area, the food was lovely and the service was great. However the only negative thing was that the TVs in the bar area were blaring loud, I could hardly hear my children at the table when trying to make conversation, so unfortunetly that ruined our experience when dining.
We visited on a Saturday and had a meal in the restaurant. It wasn’t too busy and the service was quick and efficient. We had the venison, sea bass and pesto pasta. All were delicious. There was so much pasta, I could only eat half of it. Two of our group had the sticky toffee pudding, made with molasses. It was delicious. We then had teas and coffee, two glasses of wine and a Diet Coke. Came to around £110. But pricey but it was a special occasion and the food was great. Would definitely go back, but would try the bar menu fur variety.
Group of 6 for dinner in the bar area, great to have somewhere serving great quality food on a Tuesday evening. Portions good sized. Service was great.
